West Clandon, Surrey

This new build in West Clandon was a downsizing project for our clients, and a reminder that thoughtful design and careful craftsmanship can create a home that feels both practical and deeply personal. Working alongside their architect, we shaped a house with an external oak timber frame and a traditional slate roof, blending timeless rural character and modern efficiency.

The house looks modest from the outside, but step through the door, and the layout reveals something special. The entrance hall centres on a bespoke open-tread staircase with glass balustrading, leading up to a bright galleried landing connecting two en suite bedrooms. Each room was designed around the clients’ own style, with a walk-in wardrobe and smart storage to make the most of every inch.

Downstairs, the exposed oak frame flows through, giving the living spaces a warm, natural feel. A vaulted ceiling opens up the main room, adding light and volume without losing that sense of intimacy.

Sustainability was central to the brief. Together with our clients, we planned for a boot room, a plant room for battery storage, in-roof solar panels, and an EV charger – all helping to reduce reliance on the grid and support a low-carbon lifestyle. Another thoughtful touch is the ground-floor office, designed so it can easily become a double bedroom with an adjacent wet room, keeping the house flexible for the future.

Outside, a matching double garage was built in the same country style, offering storage for logs, garden tools, and everyday needs.

This project was a genuine collaboration, and what we delivered wasn’t just a house, but a home ready for the next big chapter of our clients’ lives.

Let’s build something special together.
